Just found this draft from May 2010 - post election defeat pre Miliband taking over... Plus ca change eh?
Didn't see SNP coming, mind..
A very early stab at a new set of principles:
- No more "new". It's the Labour Party
- Return to the true values of Labour
- No more triangulation. Fear of the media backlash was one of the central failings of Lab in Govt.
- Re-connect with the natural support bottom up - not top down. Expand membership by inspiring and empowering the party at local level
- Build policy to reflect the membership of the party
- Express a willingness to state the case for European partnership, for immigration and for fair taxes
- Have a campaigning zeal for tackling the growing pay gap between ordinary and astronomical wages
- Develop an industrial policy Britain can be built upon in future
- Embrace the green agenda authentically - and build into policy decisions
- Stand for the can't work, not for the won't work
- Resist loudly the ruinous Tory Health & education plans
- Make local governance more meaningful
